A Weekend in Banting – What to do in Banting in 2 Days
A
Weekend in Banting – What to do in Banting in 2 Days
What To Do in Banting in 2 Days? Although there’s always something
new popping up in Kuala Lumpur, there are times when you need to get away from
the often overwhelming city – at least for a couple days or in a group of close
friends.
Occasionally when I travel, I have a sensation that’s closer to
experiencing a moment in time and less like visiting a physical destination.
Sight, smell, taste, sound and touch plus something else—a vibe, I suppose and combine
to make a place feel all-encompassing. It’s like plunging into a different
epoch rather than just ‘arriving’ at a new point on the map. Banting is one of
those places, is like a hidden gem I would treasure.
We chose to drive there, which takes about an hour from Kuala Lumpur
city. Banting is a town in the Selangor region of Malaysia. It has a good
population and is located on the banks of a river. Good for a short vacation,
it can be visited anytime of the year. There are some good restaurants in the
town and markets where locals shop. So, you can get a closer look at the
culture of the place with the help of these things. Don’t forget to add these
to your itinerary before planning a trip to Banting.
Top things to do in Banting itinerary highlights. Take a look!
1. Tadom Hill Resorts
If you’re
wondering what to do in Banting, and you are the kind of person who can’t laze
around on a holiday and need to pack in some adventure, Tadom Hill Resorts is
just good for you.
Tadom Hills
Resorts offers different levels of landscapes for different visitors to allow
you to choose the experience you want. It covers ground that includes natural
relief features such as rocks, limestone hills, lakes, and even a Zip Line that
is sure to test your limits and for you to try out different obstacles there
depending on your preference.
Besides that, tandom sky diving in Kuala Lampur is the right thing for you. Experience the thrill at its best, while you jump from a great height over the azure sea, float and land while harnessing safely with the instructor .
Location:
No.2, Jalan Bukit Tadom, (Kampung Orang Asli) Kampung Labohan Dagang, 42700
Banting, Selangor
Time: 10
am to 5 pm
2. Stroll On Morib Beach
Spending
time on the beach is one of the best things to do when you are on a vacation.
Morib beach is the best beach in Banting that offers white sandy shores and
picturesque views that will leave you mesmerized. An ideal place for
beach-vacation to relax with friends and family with the amazing sunset here.
A big signage greeted us when we parked our cars (free parking). There is an
outdoor playground area with paid toilets nearby. Lots of alfresco kind of food
court which sells coconut water and fried food.
You can
decide to either go to the beach or just stayed on the (quite well-maintained)
pavement and sat on the curb. However, we saw some people going down the beach
presumably looking for crabs, not all the time. Relaxing and enjoy the breeze
and take some photos here.
Location:
Morib, 42700 Banting, Selangor
Time: 24 hours
3. Famous Sin Loong Fong Steamed Chicken
Before our
drive to Tadom Hill we visited one of the town’s most famous chicken rice shops
located along Jalan Bunga Pekan in the heart of Banting town. Unlike other
chicken rice shops, the chicken here is seasoned with a creamy sauce which
contains wolfberries, giving it a very herbal taste.
Sin Loong
Foong Steamed Chicken, a chicken rice restaurant that has been operating in
Banting for over 30 years, is no stranger to locals residing in Banting.
Occupying a two-storey corner shop lot next to Jalan Bunga Pekan, it is also
known as the biggest chicken rice shop in Banting.
This
restaurant is known for its chicken rice, served in a way that most chicken
rice shops in KL or Selangor may not offer. Aside from chicken rice, they have
other items on their menu as well, all within affordable prices.
If you’re not a fan of rice, there are also a few noodle-based dishes for you
to try. Another common dish would be their “Ipoh Hor Fun” and “Prawn Ipoh Hor
Fun” served with fish balls, fishcakes, shredded chicken and rice noodles,
topped with green onions also Prawns. A hot steaming bowl of noodle soup would
be a great option for raining days when it gets colder than usual.
I would have come back each time when I visited Banting, a value for money meal with the good and effective service served but if you are not a fan of chicken rice, the shop serves plain and curry noodle soup dishes too.
Location: 221, Jalan Bunga Pekan, Taman Seri,
42700 Banting, Selangor
Time: 7.30am to 4pm
4. 馬來西亞佛光山東禪寺 - Fo Guang Shan Dong Zen Temple
From
Klang, take Highway 5 south signposted towards Banting. A few kilometres after
Teluk Panglima Garang you will reach Jenjarom. The FGS Dong Zen Temple is a
large Buddhist religious, cultural and educational complex in the small town of
Jenjarom in the Kuala Langat district of Selangor state.
Its
buildings are fairly modern but it has a pleasant atmosphere and is well worth
a visit if you are passing that area. This temple is very large and there are
many places where you can learn about Buddha. In addition, this temple also
prepares vegetarian food for visitors to buy and enjoy.
Every
Chinese New Year the temple puts on a Lantern & Flora Festival and the
whole place is transformed into a glittering wonderland of red lanterns,
digital lights, illuminated gardens and colorful displays for kids and adults.
Location: PT 2297, Jalan Sungai Buaya, Kampung
Jenjarom, 42600 Jenjarom, Selangor
Time: 10am to 10pm.
You might wish to revisit it someday again, to take a break and
relax at Banting.
Even though my vacation was just for a couple of days, I find that
Banting is a good choice to escape the hectic city as it allows me to truly
unwind and have a taste of a slow-paced life.
The town is also getting more popular in recent years, but still
manages to retain most of its rustic charm as its many decades-old local restaurants
and coffee shops are still operating to this day.
